Foodie Street & Foodie Corner

Story

Join us on a delicious food journey down inner city Foodie Streets. Eat, drink and they'll be generous on your behalf!

When: 15 October 2011
Where: 'Foodie St' on Victoria Street, Darlinghurst & 'Foodie Corner' on Crown St, Surry Hills (courtyard of Zushi and Thomas Dux)

On the 15th October, restaurants, cafes and other businesses on Victoria St Darlinghurst (and surrounds) and Crown St Surry Hills will get together as a foodie community to raise funds in recognition of the UN International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

A proportion of all profits made on the day will go to Opportunity International Australia who are giving a hand up out of poverty to millions across India, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Opportunity Ambassadors Alex Chan (Boon Chocolate owner), Heather Thomson, Tabitha King and Lindsay Creed are organising the inaugural 'Foodie Street' Food for Thought event. So, whether you have a sweet tooth or prefer savoury treats, there is something for everyone.

Where do the funds go?

The money raised will go to Opportunity International Australia who use a business approach to solve poverty. Rather than a hand-out, they provide their clients with a loan as small as $100 to help grow their small business. This enables them to earn an income and afford food, water, shelter and an education for their children. So go on – eat, drink and be generous!
